Today is the day! I remember when...

Postby JoePike on Thu Jan 28, 2010 1:32 pm

Today is the day. Remember this day. This is the day we will fondly look back on Mr. Konrath and say...I remember when.

I remember when very few people knew what JA stood for.
I remember when there was no Jack Kilborn or Joe Kimball.
I remember when the Jack series was Joe's bread and butter. Just Jack!
I remember when Joe had enough time to judge fun little writing contests in this forum.
I remember when Joe had enough time to Twitter hilariously 10 times every single day.
I remember when we were the select and elite few who knew about and enjoyed ORIGIN & THE LIST.
I remember when Joe was able to answer all of our emails personally.

etc. etc...

Because all this is changing. Joe is about to become a worldwide phenomenon. AFRAID is going to be a killer movie, which will open the door to many of his other books being optioned. TIMECASTER will position Joe as a sci-fi powerhouse. Joe is now signing 6 figure deals for book trilogies. Joe is going to save the publishing industry when they finally decide to listen to him and his ideas for how they'll make money in the future.

WE are the select few who were with him from the beginning. The select few who can say...we remember when!

Does anyone know where JA is? I can't seem to find any new posts. I read your post JoePike and do you know why he isn't
on the forum anymore? Godot67

We few, we happy few, we band of writers;
For he to-day that writes his stuff with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And people in literature now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
Of this, the board of J.A. Konrath.

Oh, sorry, had a happy Branagh flashback.

That is great news for Uncle Joe! I miss him here, but we'll just have to have our own contests and writing critiques, and cheer his successes. I do, by the way, appreciate the rest of you critiquing my writing and being on here.

Godot67, I don't think he's abandoned the forum, I just think his attention is elsewhere lately. Writing and doing the blog thing mostly, with championing e-books being his current focus...

Good. I was getting concerned. He is one of the few writers left that I read. Recently, Robert B. Parker passed away and I am saddened. Don't want to lose another writer. Hope all is ok JA!

Let us hope we keep Uncle Joe from Auto-Erotic asphyxiation. It seems so trendy - but UNcle Joe aways seems to buck the trends.

Damnit, I'm always late to the party! OK, so where can I find Afraid? And what does JA stand for besides Joe A___? I can check FAQ's or Google I suppose! I'm a newb here. I found JAK in the form of a short story. Of course upon reading up further on Mr K, I found he says you can reach an audience and bring them in with a short story. Well damnit he's correct! He wrote a short story in a James Patterson book. I loved it. So I bought the first book I could find which was a Jack Daniels series. I frickin LOVED it and have bought everything with his name ever since! I want to buy everything I can but the bookstores have limited amounts so I have to tell them, carry MORE JA KONRATH!!!!!! I never read as a youth other than the Bookit club for a free personal pan size pizza haha! Sorry, I came from a small town. Anyway, I didn't read much. Now here I am "x" years later and reading book after book and trying to stock up! Sorry to type so much but damn man, reading is awesome! At least when reading good books like these!
